Dear One Seeking God’s Comfort,
Life can be overwhelming, especially in seasons of loss and uncertainty. Maybe you feel like you’re carrying the weight of it all alone. But you don’t have to.
God created us for community—to bear one another’s burdens, encourage each other, and remind each other of the hope that is still ahead. Isolation may feel easier right now, but stepping into the right relationships can be exactly what your heart needs.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
Many of us misunderstand what real, godly love looks like—especially in difficult times. Love isn’t just about showing up when things are easy; it’s about being present, supporting, and strengthening one another.
Love is not just words; it’s action. True community walks with you, not just checks in occasionally (1 John 3:18).
Love is not just receiving; it’s giving. It’s okay to lean on others, just as you would want them to lean on you (Romans 12:10).
Love is not just for perfect people; it’s for the hurting. The church is not a museum of perfect people—it’s a place for the weary to find rest (Matthew 11:28).
Maybe you hesitate to lean on others because of fear, past hurt, or the thought that you should “handle it alone.” But the Bible encourages us to stay connected:
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.” — Hebrews 10:24-25
If you’ve been withdrawing, consider taking a step toward connection. Join a Bible study, attend church, or simply reach out to a trusted friend. God places people in our lives for a reason—let them walk with you.
Lie: “I don’t want to burden anyone with my struggles.”
Truth: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
Lie: “I should be able to handle this on my own.”
Truth: “Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
Lie: “No one really cares.”
Truth: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
You don’t have to face this alone. God is with you, and He has placed people around you to encourage and strengthen you. Don’t let fear or hesitation keep you from the love and support you need.
I pray that God surrounds you with people who will uplift, encourage, and remind you of the hope that is still ahead. May He give you the courage to step into the community He has placed around you, knowing that you are deeply loved and never alone.
If you’re looking for a place to grow, be encouraged, and connect with people who care, I invite you to join us at Douglass Hills Church of Christ.
