The founder of the Law Offices of John Schmidt & Associates PLLC, John has a personal devotion to help struggling families. The happiness and welfare of clients are extremely important to John, which is why he stresses that clients come to healthy solutions in their cases.
John grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and put himself through college and graduate school at the University of Kentucky. Later, he completed the Six Six Sigma Green and Lean programs at Villanova University and worked as a special education teacher, prosecutor, turn-around executive and consultant before going into private practice.
He is very active with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and other charities, which have come to influence his view on how he practices law. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes mucus to be thicker than normal. The thicker mucus causes issues in the pancreas, lungs and digestive tract. However, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made great strides so those with the condition can live longer, healthier and more active lives. Consider the following:
In 1955, life expectancy for people with CF is 5 years old.
In 1981, life expectancy for people with CF is 21 years old.
In 1985, life expectancy for people with CF is 25 years old.
In 2004, life expectancy for people with CF is 35 years old.
Money buys science, and science buys lives! In 2012, a new treatment became available that may extend the lives of 4% of those living with CF to the age of 60 thanks to the generosity and hard work of everyone who helped the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
John likes to live his life according to a quotation from Albert Pine: “What you do for yourself dies with you, but what you do for others lives on and is immortal.”
